A special officer appointed by the state government will help establish the new Bengaluru Central and North universities
The Karnataka government issued a special gazette last week that notified the trifurcation of Bangalore University. Bengaluru University will continue functioning from BU's existing campus at Jnana Bharathi; Bengaluru Central University will function from Central College and a Bengaluru North University will be established near Hoskote.
The existing 600 colleges will get affiliated to these three universities based on their respective legislative assembly constituencies. Two new VCs will be appointed to the two new varsities and a special officer appointed by the state government will help establish Bengaluru Central and North universities. A subcommittee headed by the then higher education minister RV Deshpande disclosed that BU will be split into four varsities in February. The state cabinet approved trifurcating BU in May.
