HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar will officiate the ceremonies on the occasion
The temporary campus for Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) will be inaugurated on 6 August 2016. Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar will officiate the ceremonies on the occasion.
For this academic session IIT Jammu will be offering three programmes (Computer Science and Engineering; Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering). The institute has admitted 30 students in each of the three programmes.
On 1 May 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Department of Higher Education, Jammu and Kashmir for the transfer of land for the permanent campus for the institute.
Under the agreement 159 acres of land has been allotted to the institute in Jagti, Tehsil Nagrota at Jammu. The construction work for the permanent campus has not yet commenced, but is expected to begin soon.
