Inaugurating the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar exhorted the students to lead the country on the path to innovation. He also declared that the students with the most innovative proposals would receive scholarships worth Rs 60,000.
The HRD minister stated, “The scheme will encourage students to bring out innovative ideas to help the growth of the industries and related fields. Students can turn entrepreneurs while staying at the hostels. You sell your ideas, we will fund them. It was the reason why an institute like IIT was sanctioned to the State where BJP was not in power.”
He added that the government was committed to improving the higher education sector in the country and the promotion of education in the country is one of the foremost concerns of the government.
