The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prepared a questionnaire to garner the feedback from teachers at universities across the country on the newly formed pay review committee. The online questionnaire will be available on UGC’s website and has to be filled by teachers before 25 September 2016.
A recent notification by UGC read, "The UGC in consultation with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has constituted the pay review committee for pay revision of academic staff of universities and colleges. The constitution of the committee and its terms of reference have been notified by UGC. As a part of the process, the committee would like to collect information and feedback from colleges on terms of reference mentioned in the concerned notification."
The apex regulatory body has also exhorted the teachers to fill in accurate and complete information explaining that the exercise will aid the pay review in framing its suggestions.
The UGC initiative has been welcomed by many. A faculty member of a college stated, "It is good that the Commission is seeking feedback on the mandate of the pay review panel. We hope feedback submitted by us is taken into consideration positively."
