Ambedkar University Delhi will be setting up an incubation centre for social entrepreneurship and innovation with approval from the Academic Council
Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) is setting up an incubation centre for social entrepreneurship and innovation.Kuriakose Mamkoottam, director, School of Business, Public Policy and Social Entrepreneurship (SBPPSE), AUD stated "The move has been cleared by the Academic Council and we are planning to set up the centre on campus as soon as possible. The basic focus of the centre will be to provide services in the social sector targeting areas such as education, health, sanitation, etc, which can be run on business principles. The university has a strong interdisciplinary base and is committed to respond to the needs of the marginalised. Social entrepreneurship has grown and we want to encourage the incubation of ideas into viable business ventures" .
The centre will be integrated with the university's teaching and research. Mamkoottam clarified "The idea is to allow faculty and students to actively take part in the centre. The centre will be open to the community. The ideas would be screened by a group of experts to decide whether they can be converted in to a business opportunity".
A panel of experts will provide mentoring asde from the faculty. Mamkoottam added"Their job will be to support students and guide them. We are also looking at collaborations with similar centres and we will invite venture capitalists, etc, to help students with funding for their projects".
