The entire Allahabad University campus will soon have high speed Wi-Fi by end of 2014. The project would cost around Rs 1 crore with high-speed net connectivity within a 100-metre radius of the router. The routers will be installed throughout the four campuses of the varsity and hostels with three control units each in Arts and Science campuses.
The commerce and law campuses will get one control unit each while hostels and the entire Women Hostel campus will get two control units. The net speed shall also be upgraded from1 Gigabit per second to 10 GBPS. Prof J A Ansari, senior faculty member of the JK Institute of Applied Physics of AU stated to the press "We have ample nodes in the fibre-optics network. Control units and routers would be installed among these nodes so that faculty members and students are able to access wireless internet facility".
