MSU launches local guru-digital library

The M S University's faculty of technology and engineering has now incorporated the 'Local Guru-Digital Library' software that customizes content for local needs. The university's Hansa Mehta library has let out the software to the faculties of the university through LAN.  Local Guru uses a content management system to customize content.

University librarian Dr Mayank Trivedi  stated to the press "In this era of advancement and technology, it is very important to acquire the knowledge of the field under study apart from the classroom teaching and learning processes. By providing this facility, we want to give students, researchers and knowledge seekers of the field of technology and engineering the opportunity to explore one more dimension of independent learning process"

Videos of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) can now be accessed without connecting to the internet. A HTTP streaming facility is also available and NPTEL videos are indexed in the content management system (CMS) for easy searching. NPTEL videos can be watched through this software along with online videos of the lectures and teachings of IIT faculty.
