20 December 2010

The election will be according to the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee and the order of the Supreme Court

Students of the Aligarh Muslim University ended their 78-day long agitation late Sunday after the vice-chancellor gave them an assurance that students union polls would be held in January.
"In a meeting between 14 students and the university administration...it was resolved that election process of the AMU Students' Union will be started from 3rd January 2011, as already announced," a statement Monday by the office of Vice Chancellor P.K. Abdul Azis said.
"The election of the students' union shall be held as per Lyngdoh Committee recommendations and the Supreme Court's order in letter and spirit," it added.
The suspension order of five students involved in the sit-in agitation for the polls was also revoked, the statement added.

In a democratic country the education System should also be democratic. Every Indian citizen have equal right to participate in Politics. But Lyngdoh Committee recommendations are against the very fundamental Right of the Students. The great leaders like, Netaji, Lala lajpat Rai encouraged the students and teachers to join politics. For that Students Union, Teachers union to represent their rights are very essential. SO Students Union Election is inevitable. So there should be a democratic election Not Selection. But Lyngdoh Committee recommendations are against the very fundamental Right of the Students. So the Governments cunningly snatch away the rights of Students and teachers. There by they are also maligning the great leaders of our country. Students should fight it unitedly based on higher culture and Ethics.
