The Deakin University, Australia, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Mumbai-based ITM Group for the co-development of short term management programmes, course credit transfer and exchange of faculty and students.
The MoU was signed by Deakin's Vice Chancellor Jane Den Hollander and ITM's Founder Chairman Dr P.V. Ramana in the presence of the Australian Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations, Honourable Chris Evans.
Professor Hollander said that Deakin has been named ‘University of the Year’ twice in Australia, receiving accolades for innovative use of technology in teaching and learning, and education and training partnerships. She called for deeper partnership in curriculum development and mobility of faculty and students.
According to Dr Ramana, the relationship with Deakin will start with a two-year international MBA programme in which the first year syllabus would be covered at the ITM campuses in India and the second year instructions would be provided online by Deakin. "I believe this is the first agreement of its type between any Indian business school and an Australian University.
Ravneet Pawha, Country Director - India, Deakin University Australia, said that such partnerships would be instrumental in providing a platform for better understanding of each other's education system and enhances curriculum development at both ends.
