Union government has decided to set up a Central Agricultural University in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. To be headquartered in Jhansi, the proposed university is slated to have four different colleges, for Agriculture and Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Sciences, and Fisheries.
According to government's plan, four colleges under the University will be opened. Two of the colleges based on Agriculture and Horticulture and Forestry will come up in Uttar Pradesh part of Bundelkhand region. While other two colleges- Animal Sciences, and Fisheries would be constructed in Madhya Pradesh part of the region.
Fully funded by the Central government, the university is likely to require about 300 acres of land. The estimated cost of the project would be around Rs 500 crore. It is expected that the four new colleges will be ready for first academic session in next five-seven years.
