The award is in recognition of his outstanding contributions in malaria monitoring system in AP


The Chief Scientist of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology Prof USN Murthy has been awarded eNorth East Award for 2011. The award is in recognition of his outstanding contributions in malaria monitoring system in AP under the category of health services delivery.
Prof Murthy joined as a Scientist in IICT the then RRL Hyderabad in 1984. Since then he has been involved in the areas of Computational Biology, Bioinformatics and Medical informatics in India.  His work is mainly on prioritization of endemic zones of different mosquito borne diseases for effective control at village level. This is the first of its kind in the vector control programs.
Prof. Murthy’s research contribution includes application of data mining tools for control of mosquito borne diseases. Prof. Murthy has been working for last twenty years in these fields.  He has published nearly 103 research papers. He has 12 Patents/Copy rights to his credit.
