Darden School of Business Executive Education Programs Ranked #1 by Financial Times
14 May 2010

For the second time in four years, Darden's open-enrollment programs have been ranked #1

In the Financial Times 2010 ranking of Executive Education programs, released on May 10, 2010, Darden Executive Education reclaimed the #1 global ranking for open-enrollment programs. FT publishes an annual survey of open-enrollment and custom professional development programs, and an overall general ranking.

This marks the second time within a four-year period that Darden has earned the number one position in the FT survey; Darden was ranked #1 in 2006.

Since 2003, Darden has consistently ranked in the top seven for open-enrollment programs, usually earning the #2 or #3 spot. (In 2008 and 2009 Darden was ranked #2 globally.) In addition, this year Darden claims the number one rank in seven categories in the participant survey:

  • Aims Achieved
  • Course Design (#1, 2003 – 2010)
  • Faculty (#1, 2004 – 2010)
  • Food and Accommodations (repeatedly ranked in top three)
  • New Skills and Learning
  • Preparation
  • Teaching Materials
  • “We're particularly proud of this strong performance in a very challenging market,” said David Newkirk, CEO of Darden Executive Education. “We worked actively to deliver education and experiences that executives could apply immediately, and to deliver them ever more effectively and flexibly.”

Adds Darden’s Dean Bob Bruner: “The FT rankings speak to Darden's success in delivering on our vision, providing the best student-centered learning, thought leadership and active engagement with the business community — all delivered at unmatched standards of service.”

FT’s annual open-enrollment program survey is based on the responses of program participants. In Darden’s case, the participants had completed Darden’s Advanced Management programs: The Executive Program and “Creating the Future: The Challenge of Transformational Leadership,” as well as the General Management course, “Management Development Program: Driving Vision, Action and Results.”

FT ranked 60 schools in the open-enrollment category. For the complete rankings information, go to: http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/executive-education---open
