The Land and Revenue department would soon formally transfer the plot to the state Human Resource Department (HRD)

Decks have been cleared for the proposed campus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Kishanganj of Bihar. The state government has allotted  224.02 acres of land for the purpose. Land was acquired by the district administration near Kishanganj district headquarters at Chakla and Govindpur villages.
The Land and Revenue department would soon formally transfer the plot to the state Human Resource Department (HRD) which in turn, will hand over the land to AMU administration for starting construction work. The land has been offered to Aligarh Muslim University free of cost.
Earlier, the AMU authorities had refused to set up the university's mega study centre in Kishanganj on the ground that the plot acquired for the purpose by the state was in three separate parts. The AMU VC along with his team visited Kishanganj twice on May 22, 2010 and July 11, 2011 to select the suitable land for the proposed university campus in Kishanganj.
It may be mentioned here that Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), is a residential academic university, established in 1875 by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan as Mohammedan Angelo-Oriental College and later granted the status of Central University. AMU offers more than 300 courses in the traditional and modern branches of education. It draws students from all corners of the world, especially Africa, West Asia and South East Asia. In some courses, places are reserved for students from SAARC and Commonwealth countries.
