Renowned Hydrogolist Dr Rameshwar S Kanwar has joined Lovely Professional University as its Vice Chancellor.
An MS holder from G.B. Pant University of Agricultural and Technology in India and a PhD in water resources from Iowa State University, Professor Ramesh Kanwar is a distinguished academician and a renowned researcher. He specialises in irrigation, drainage, groundwater quality, animal waste management, water table management, sustainable agricultural production systems and modelling of hydrologic systems, engineering solutions to emerging global environmental problems from agricultural and livestock production systems. Apart from Iowa State University students, he also taught undergraduate and postgraduate and PhD students in Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Uzbekistan as well as India.
At the occasion, LPU’s Chancellor Ashok Mittal said: "Dr Rameshwar S Kanwar's international experience and vision will help us in realising our dreams."
Dr Kanwar said: "I will try to bring improvement in academics. No doubt, university has already marked at international level, we will together further strive with expertise and team work."
Dr Kanwar was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the Georgian State Agrarian University in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2000 and was elected Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences in India in 2001. In 2005, he was elected Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. In 2007, he was awarded Doctorate Honour Causa Scientific by the Trakia University in Bulgaria. He has received numerous awards including Engineer of the Year Award by ASABE, Distinguished Service Award by the Asian Association of Agricultural Engineers, and Outstanding Young Engineering Faculty Research Award, Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award, and International Service Award by Iowa State University.
