IT spending in the education sector in India is likely to grow by 42% in 2016 compared to the forecasted spending in 2012.


IT spending in the education sector in India is likely to grow by 42% in 2016 compared to the forecasted spending in 2012.
IT spending in the education sector in India is expected to grow by 18% in 2012, representing the strongest growth in terms of percentage this year, according to new report by IT research firm Gartner.
The IT spending will reach Rs 5,200 crore in 2012, which is Rs 800 crore more than the amount spent in the previous year, the report said.
This growth in the relatively small education ICT market is primarily due to the government investment in revamp of education system in the country.
The investment in education sector for ICT will grow by 42% to Rs 7,400 crore in 2016, when compared to the forecasted Rs 5,200 crore spending in this year.
The Gartner report also revealed that Indian enterprise IT spending across all industry markets is forecast to reach Rs 191,000 crore in 2012, up 16.4% when compared with Rs 164,000 spending in the last year.
It further said that the government, financial services and large manufacturing sectors will remain the best growth opportunities throughout the forecast period.
