The Orissa High Court has exempted 14 B-schools in the state from AICTE’s notification that prevented them from conducting their own admission process to admit students.
A few days back, the Maharashtra High Court passed a similar order that freed ITM Group of Institutions from AICTE’s notification.
According to the order of the Orissa High Court, the 14 institutions may admit students to their PGDM, PGDM (Executive) and PGCM courses for the 2011-12 sessions.
Admissions shall be granted on the basis of the students’ performance in any one or more of the national-level tests including CAT, XAT, ATMA, JMET and MAT. The performance of the students in the group discussions and personal interviews shall also be a criterion for admission.

This is what happens if the policy decisions are taken in haste; are not based on sound research followed by discussions and deliberations by experts and important stakeholders. Regards, Tarun
The Orissa High Court's exemption from AICTE’s notification to 14 B-schools in the state is really OUTSTANDING in the Education fraternity.
I hope other state Governments also follow the same suite.
With Best Regards
