Government Announces Scholarship Scheme for Higher Education Students

The Central Sector Scholarship Scheme will enable students to meet their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher education


The Ministry of Human Resource Development has started a Central Sector Scholarship Scheme to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from weaker sections wanting to pursue higher studies and professional courses.

The government has also revised the eligibility criteria from 80% to 80th percentile in the relevant stream for a particular board of examination in class XII. Regular students from a recognised college or university, whose parents’ income is less than Rs 4.50 lakh per annum are eligible for this scheme.

There shall also be reservation subject to internal earmarking as per the reservation policy of the government.
