The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the apex body that conducts GMAT across the world, has included the Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai in its member list.
The membership to the council is by invitation only and it selects only those top management schools of the world that have played a leading role in management education. The other Indian institutes that have been chosen are Indian School of Business, Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmedabad and Bangalore, and S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research.
Professor T.N. Swaminathan, Director of External Relations, Great Lakes Chennai said: "We are honoured that GMAC has invited us for membership. This recognition shows the unparalleled growth the institute has made in management education in India in a short span of six years. We look forward to moving to a global level."
"The membership will also help us play an active part in the direction of GMAT and help assist in our international accreditation," added Swaminathan.
GMAC President, Dr David A. Wilson said: "We hope to exchange ideas and work closely with you in this challenging time for management education."
GMAC member schools are drawn from graduate business and management schools around the world. Although the council does not have many members, more than 1,800 schools have become valued customers because they use the GMAT exam as their admission criteria.
Some of the other leading B-schools from across the globe which are members of GMAC are ESADE Business School, IESE Business School, INSEAD, London Business School, Stanford University-Graduate School of Business and Yale University-School of Management, among others.
