In a major decision, Kerala High Court upheld the State government’s decision to expel Vice-Chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) B. Ashok. He has challenged the government decision to remove him.
The petitioner – B Ashok contended that he was appointed to the post for five years and was therefore entitled to continue on the post up to 2016. He further argued that except the administrative convenience, no other reason had been given for his removal.
In its order, the court said it didn’t find any infirmity in the notification removing him from the post. After removing him, the government put Additional Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar in charge of the post.
Before holding the position of VC- Kerala University, Dr B Ashok worked as Deputy Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration Mussoorie. Dr Ashok is a graduate of Kerala Agricultural University (College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Thrissur) and has a postgraduate degree in International Politics from Italy.
