IGNOU Gets New Lab on Foundation Day

The new laboratory is equipped with the latest facilities




On November 19, Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) foundation day, Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal, inaugurated a new state-of- the art modular laboratory for Msc Chemistry students of the university.

"The laboratory has been fabricated by a world-class manufacturing house, Kewaunee Labway India, reputed for its laboratories for scientific disciplines," said Director of the School of Sciences, IGNOU, Dr Sunita Malhotra. It is fitted with vacuum, gas and electricity lines, water taps, and all safety precautions. Well polished granite tops are fire and chemical resistant. Shelves for chemicals also are made of granite stone to ensure neat ambience at laboratory functions. The laboratory will accommodate 40 students at a schedule.

Minister of State for HRD D. Purandeswari, Professor P. T. Manoharan, Raman Chair Professor in IGNOU and Vice Chancellor Professor V N Rajasekharan Pillai were also present at the inauguration
