The partnership focuses on development and sharing of course material and services for lifelong learning

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has signed MoUs with three Chinese universities, an official said Thursday.

The three institutions are the Open University of Hong Kong, Human Normal University and Qingdao Technological University.

"The institutions have identified various areas of common interest. Development and sharing of course material and services for lifelong learning shall be a major area," said Pro Vice Chancellor P.R. Ramanujam.

"The Chinese varsities will start a co-operative programme with IGNOU in teaching, scientific research, faculty and exchange of students, books, learning resources and magazines," he added.

According to the agreement, professors from IGNOU can teach in the Chinese universities under an exchange programme and vice versa.

"They may accept self-financed students from IGNOU to study Chinese language, culture, history, fine arts and other related subjects," Ramanujam added.
