IICT scientist bags Biotech Research Society Award

Dr RBN Prasad had also received several national awards for his contributions in the area of oils and fats


The Chief Scientist and Head of Center for Lipid Sciences of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad- Dr RBN Prasad  has been conferred with ‘Biotech Research Society of India’s Industrial Medal Award.
The award was presented to Dr Prasad for his outstanding contribution in enabling use of biotechnological options for the processing and value additions to vegetable oils. Dr Prasad is also responsible for the development of several technologies like enzymatic degumming of rice bran oil for the production of high quality rice bran oil, low calorie fats, nutraceuticals from vegetable oils, bio-lubricants, biodiesel etc.
Dr Prasad had also received several national awards for his contributions in the area of oils and fats. Recently he has also been elected as president of Oil Technologists’ Association of India (OTAI), which is a national body with five zonal offices and headquartered at Kanpur.
