Belling the CAT (Common Admission Test) may get easy for candidates this year. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have announces a new format for CAT 2011. With the same number of questions, this year’s CAT will have two sections instead of three and an extra five minutes to take the test.
The two sections would be: Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning.
In the new method, the IIMs have clubbed the sections which were divided into three parts in the older method.
“The reason for changing the method is that we aim to get candidates who are good at both — verbal ability and analysis,” CAT 2011 organiser said.
The candidates will also be provided 15 minutes tutorials before the examination starts, making the total time two hours and 35 minutes. The test will be conducted between October 22 and November 18, 2011.
Candidates will have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions in each section which will have an on-screen countdown timer. Once the time ends for the first section, they will move to the second and will not be able to go back. Earlier, the three sections had 20 questions each.
