The Indian Institutes of Management at Lucknow and Rohtak have signed an agreement with the Kelley School of Business (KSB) at Indiana University, US, to promote research in global business education.
Micheal McRobbie, President, Indiana University and Professor P Prameshan, Director, IIM-R, singed the memorandum on behalf of their respective institutions. According to the agreement, IIM-R and Kelley School of Business will work together to achieve the academic and organisational goals of both the institutions.
“The MoU will boost management education not only among Haryana students but across the country. In the last five year plan, it was decided to open seven new IIMs. Necessary autonomy will be given to these institutions, but it is expected that they will become the centres of knowledge creation and research,” Ashok Thakur, Special Secretary, Technical Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, said.
"Kelly School of Business and IIM-L will investigate avenues to enhance the research mission. Collaborative case studies would be developed, which would then be used for teaching purposes, designing and delivering series of faculty research workshops," IIM-L said.
"KSB and IIM-L will also explore the best avenues to combine the interests of faculty at both institutes with students, the business community and society in general. The collaboration seeks to produce events such as webinars, videoconferences and conferences," it added.
According to officials, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) will also explore the possibilities of launching a dual-degree programme that will be designed by both institutes and will be primarily taught at IIM-L's Noida campus by faculty from both the institutes.
IIM-L Director Devi Singh said: "Research cannot be confined to geographies. In order to innovate new measures of teaching and learning, we today join hands with one of US's leading B-schools."
McRobbie said as per the provision of MoU, the faculty research workshops and research mission of the IIMs and Kelley School of Business will be enhanced. A series of research workshops will also be organised at Bloomington Indiana and Rohtak.
