IIMs to set up development centres

The heads are of the view that development centres will work as accelerators in raising funds


 

In order to meet out swelling expenses, IIMs' have planned to set up development centres. It will also initiate for building relations with philanthropists, industrialists and its alumni. The decision to this effect was taken during a high level meeting of IIMs' heads.
The heads were of the view that development centres will work as accelerators in raising funds to meet the ambitious plan of the B-schools. Besides this, building relations with industrialists and philanthropists will help in the development of infrastructure. Not only this, IIMs' heads have planned to identify those alumni who are really interested to help these institutes.
It may be mentioned here that Hari S Bhartia committee report, set up by Human Resource Development, had also suggested for setting up development centres to raise funds. It had further suggested that IIMs' should follow a model that identifies prospective fund givers.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are a group of autonomous management institutes of higher education in the country. Presently, 13 such institutes are delivering management education to its students. Most of the institutes are facing tough time due to scarcity of funds.
