Indian Diamond Institute gets the youngest executive director

Samir has joined the institute as senior instructor-cum-engineer in 1994


Adding a new chapter in three decades old history of Indian Diamond Institute (IDI), Samir Joshi has taken over the charge as the youngest executive director. The post was lying vacant since July 2011. He was appointment following the approval given by the governing body of the IDI and the ministry of commerce.
Samir, a mechanical engineer from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), has joined the institute as senior instructor-cum-engineer in 1994. He is a thorough professional in gemology, jewellery and a certified diamond grader. After taking over the charge, he said that his first priority is to see that the India-Africa diamond institute project at Botswana, jointly developed by Government of India and IDI, is implemented successfully.
The institute now has two young professionals at the helm of the affairs. The chairman of IDI - Aagam Sanghavi, 26 and Samir Joshi, 32, the executive director of institute have pledged to help young talents of the diamond industry to achieve newer heights with their vast technical and market experience.
IDI, established in 1978 in Surat of Gujarat, is the most coveted institute in the field of diamonds, gems & jewellery in India. It is a state-of-art school of learning, everything within the campus, under one roof.
