The Central government’s grant of Rs 138.68 crore will be used to raise necessary infrastructure, upgrade library and laboratories
The Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, is thinking of implementing its plan to bring its infrastructure at par with international standards, after it was allotted Rs 138.68 crore as grant from Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, in the Union Budget 2011-12.
“Apart from the development of infrastructure, the fund would be utilised to upgrade the institute’s library, laboratories and students’ hostels. We were unable to take up the work because of the lack of funds,” said an officer of the ISM.
“The payment of salary to the faculty and the non-teaching staff had become a major concern for the institute. The grant came as a boon for us,” said ISM registrar Colonel M.K. Singh.
