Jharkhand to have a Dairy Technology Institute Soon

The institute will come up in Dumka. It aims at the growth of dairy production sector in the state


Bihar will soon boast of a dairy technology institute. This will be the second of its kind in the entire eastern region after Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology in Patna.

With a view to pushing serious push for growth of dairy production, the State Government has proposed setting up a state-of-the-art dairy science college at Hansdiha block of Dumka, the second capital of Jharkhand. The institute is expected to commence functions next year.

The animal husbandry department of the State has already allocated Rs11 crore for establishment of infrastructure like construction of building on 50-acre land earmarked for the purpose. The college will offer degrees in dairy engineering, dairy technology, dairy micro-biology, dairy chemistry, dairy economy and business management courses. Each course will have 30 enrolments per session, selected through a joint entrance test.
