31 March 2011

The institutes are expected to conduct collaborative and training with the public and private sectors

Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, recently laid the foundation stones of the National Institute of Communication Finance (NICF) and Institute of Advance Radio Spectrum Engineering and Management Studies (IARSEMS). He said that the institutes should look forward to collaborative research and training with the public and private sectors.

“Communication and information services have emerged as effective tools for the empowerment of marginalized sections of the society. Trained and capable manpower is required to ensure that technology and technological advancements delivers to the common man,” he said.

NICF trains Indian P&T Accounts and Finance Service Officers (IP&TAFS) and serves as a national level training and research centre for telecom policies, planning and licensing, postal accounts, finance and internal audits and related subjects.

The institute’s new campus at Ghitorni would be a green campus and would focus on energy efficiency, environment, water conservation, use of recycled products and renewable energy, adopting environmental friendly technologies and practices. It would also address sustainability issues, as well as contribute to the conservation of national resources.

Speaking about the IARSEMS, Sibal said that an efficient planning and engineering is essential to achieve optimal spectrum use in present and future.
