These Ambassador Professors will be part-time professors to tackle the problem of faculty shortage in the state’s rural and small town colleges

Madhya Pradesh’s Higher Education Department has decided to appoint Ambassador Professors in every district of the state to bring about qualitative improvement in the academic activities of colleges.

Higher Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma informed that through Ambassador Professors, presence of part-time professors will be ensured in colleges grappling with shortage of teachers in the colleges in the rural areas and small towns.

Besides students, this scheme will also benefit the newly appointed professors. The Ambassador Professors will be selected from among principals and professors of various subjects posted in colleges.

For this, applications will have to be submitted to the leading college by September 15. Panels of three names each will be prepared on the basis of received applications. After approval of names by the Higher Education Department, they will be appointed as Ambassador Professors. This nomination will be for one year. All the government colleges of the district will be under the jurisdiction of Ambassador Professor.

An Ambassador Professor will have to make his first visit invariably to all the colleges of the district during the first semester. After the first visit, subsequent visits will be undertaken on the request of principals of the concerning colleges.

At the end of the session, information will have to be given about improvement brought about in the education quality of visited colleges. Constant evaluation of Ambassador Professors will also be undertaken.
