Matuknath reinstated as professor in Patna university

A professor of Hindi at BN College Matuknath Choudhary was suspended on July 15, 2006. Later, he was dismissed from the service in 2009.


Chancellor of the state's varsities and governor of Bihar has ordered to reinstate Patna University Professor- Matuknath Choudhary with immediate effect. A professor of Hindi at BN College was suspended on July 15, 2006 after his affair with a student hit headlines. Later, he was dismissed from the service in 2009.
A professor in Patna University- Matuknath, along with the student and other supporters was on an indefinite fast since November 21. Expressing his happiness over chancellor’s decision, he said, "I am happy and thankful to the state governor, who heard my voice for justice. Now, I will join my duty to teach students after a gap of five years."
Earlier, to seek the attention of state Governor towards his appeal, Prof. Matuknath Choudhary demonstrated on the road as part of his protest march on April 15, this year. Choudhary had also moved Raj Bhawan immediately after his dismissal on July 2009 but the governor, who also happens to be the chancellor of universities in Bihar, has not paid any attention to his plea.
It may be mentioned here that the university had dismissed Prof Choudhary, famous as ‘Love Guru’, on the charge of bringing disrepute to the teacher-pupil relationship.
