MCI Board of Governors Reconstituted, Appoints New Head

Professor K.K. Talwar took over from Dr S.K. Sarin as the head of the Board of Governors


The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reconstituted the Board of Governors for the Medical Council of India. Professor K.K. Talwar former Director, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, would be the Chairman of the new Board of Governors.

Professor Talwar took over from Dr S.K. Sarin as the head of the Board of Governors. Other members nominated on the board are Professor K.S. Sharma, Professor Harbhajan Singh Rassam, Dr Rajiv Chintaman Yeravdekar and Dr Purushotham Lal.

The term of the present members of Board of Governors ended on May 14 this year.

The reconstitution follows the promulgation of the ordinance extending the supersession of the Medical Council of India by another year.

I most humbly submit that, the position of Chairman,Board of Governors, MCI should have been for at least 05 years and NOT just 01 year. Moreover, Prof. Sarin deserves to be the Chairman of this important national body for life.
