MP gets World Bank aid to reform higher education

A proposal for establishing Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University has also been forwarded to the centre.


The World Bank has approved a Rs 1,000 Crore project to carry out extensive reforms in higher education sector in Madhya Pradesh.
"All formalities are being completed to facilitate launch of the project. The project is aimed at streamlining the higher education sector", an official spokesman said after a quarterly review meeting of Higher Education Department here.
The general enrolment ratio (GER) of the state has increased from 12.5 to 16.9 exceeding the national level. The use of IT has been maximised. The online counseling for B Ed has benefited 26,000 students who secured admission through online process, an official statement said.
Minister for Higher Education Laxmikant Sharma said that new faculties have been introduced in 74 colleges. Besides, a proposal for establishing Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University has been forwarded to the centre.
