In a bid to announce results timely, Panjab University (PU) is all set to install Virtual Private Network (VPN). The new network will interlink 75 department and its 188 affiliated colleges.

According to authorities, VPN will facilitate in the quick transfer of information through internet. All the affiliated colleges and Varsity’s over 75 departments will be interlinked with a common server through VPN.

Coordinator of the project and Director PU computer centre- K Tankeshwer Kumar said, “The main server that is managed by the computer centre will have connection to all the colleges and university departments. VPN linking of affiliated colleges will ensure access with any university branch, college, examination or fee section directly.”

He said, “It would also help university to keep a record of information related to colleges and departments as they can directly put all the required details at the designated addresses. Presently, this information between colleges and university is either shared by hand or through the post.”
