Noted educationist- Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar has been appointed as the next Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu. The Governor of Jammu and Kashmir- NN Vohra, who also is chancellor of Jammu University, appointed Prof Ishar as VC, on recommendation of a three-member panel.

Professor in the pharmaceutical sciences department, Dr Ishar will succeed Varun Sahni, the present Vice Chancellor, who had completed his tenure on 7th December 2011 and was since then, awaiting the appointment of his successor.

Dr. Ishar served as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Chemistry Department, IIT, Delhi (1987-90). Later, he joined as Reader and Founder Head, Department of Applied Chemistry (presently Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences) Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab in 1991. He has been serving in this University for the past over two decades.

Dr. Ishar has undertaken various research projects funded by different national agencies. He has 86 research publications and presented 43 research papers in the various national and international conferences and symposia.
