Retirement age of Bihar Varsity teachers is now 65

The age of superannuation of college and university teachers of Bihar has been enhanced from 62 to 65 years with effect from June 30, 2010.
A notification to this effect has been issued by the Human Resource Development and sent to all the universities of the state.
A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet at its meeting held on December 1 last.
HRD Joint Secretary Jitendra Prasad said that notices has been issued to all the registrars of the universities of the state to increase the superannuation age in the wake of the state government’s decision.
The decision would greatly benefit those teachers who were supposed to retire at 62 years on or after June 30, 2010.
More than 2,000 teachers would have retired at the age of 62 by 2012, according to university sources.
