Six Universities in Bihar get New VCs

Patna University will be headed by Shambhu Nath Singh, Director of IGNOU’s School of Journalism and New Media Studies


Governor and the Chancellor of universities of Bihar, Devanand Konwar, has appointed vice chancellors for six universities in the state.

The Director of School of Journalism and New Media Studies of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Shambhu Nath Singh, has been appointed the new VC of Patna University.

Magadh University's retired Hindi professor Ram Binod Singh has been appointed the VC of Jayaprakash University, Chhapra, whereas LN Mithila University registrar Kumar Bimal has been appointed VC of BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.

The Principal of Brajbhushan Sanskrit College, Gaya, Arvind Pandey, will take over as the new VC of Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University.

The officiating VCs of BN Mandal University and Maulana Mazhar-ul Haq University, Arun Kumar and S Zoha respectively, have been retained as full-time VCs.

Appointments of VCs in Magadh University and Veer Kuer Singh University are likely to be made after the final court verdict on cases relating to appointment of previous incumbents.

According to HRD sources, the governor did not consult the state government over the appointments.
