Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has decided to issue online roll numbers to its students from the upcoming academic session to streamline its examination system.

This will benefit thousands of students studying in PU-affiliated 188 colleges in different parts of Punjab and Chandigarh.

“Keeping in mind the demand of outstation students, we have decided to issue roll numbers online from the next academic session. Students can download the photograph-pasted roll numbers from the university’s website. Earlier students were required to come to the university to collect them,” said R.C. Sobti, PU’s Vice Chancellor.

He added, “It would also keep a check on the incidents where roll numbers get lost by the postal department and were printed wrongly by the examination department. In case of any discrepancy, students can contact the officials concerned over the phone.”

Besides, PU authorities have also decided to make available its prospectus online from the next session.

“We will also upload the entire prospectus on our website. Everything would be controlled by a centralised server,” added Sobti.
