The renowned academic institution of Canada- Carleton University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) of New Delhi and Symbiosis International University of Pune. The agreements will provide opportunities to combine expertise and real-world experience in the areas of technology management, alternative energy, economics, public policy and engineering.
Carleton’s President and Vice-Chancellor- Roseann O’Reilly Runte said on this occasion, “Canada and India can learn much from each other. Students in both countries stand to benefit as they gain research and study experiences.” Runte added that understanding between the two universities will foster the possibilities of exchange of undergraduate and graduate students.
It may be noted that The Energy and Resources Institute, commonly known as TERI (formerly Tata Energy Research Institute), established in 1974, is a research institute based in New Delhi focusing its research activities in the fields of energy, environment and sustainable development. It is headed by noted educationist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Rajendra K. Pachauri.
While Symbiosis International University (SIU) located in Pune, Maharashtra, is a part of the Symbiosis Society which is its managing body, established in 1971 by Padmashree Dr SB Mujumdar. It was given autonomous status in 2002 by the Ministry of Human Resources Development and later it has expanded its wings.
