Third All India Bar Exam postponed to January 8, 2012

The third All India Bar Examination (AIBE) will be held on January 8 next year. The registrations for the exam will start from October 7 and close on December 7 this year.

According to a press release issued by Ashok K Parija, Chairman, Bar Council of India, the third AIBE is for new candidates, Chennai aspirants and students who could not clear the earlier bar examination.

The application forms for the exam are available with State Bar Councils (SBCs). The registration can also be done online.

The second AIBE 2011 was finally held on July 24, this year after a postponement.

"The newly enrolled advocates will be permitted to conditionally practice law in India subject to clearance of the AIBE in January, 2012 and furnishing an undertaking to the concerned State Bar Council (SBC), so that newly registered lawyers would like to begin their practice quickly.

"The BCI has decided to organise the third AIBE on January 8 next year," he said adding that from next academic year AIBE will be held regularly twice in a year during September/October and March/April.

Certificate of Practice for students who cleared the July AIBE will be distributed through SBCs from October 10 this year.
