UGC directs JNU to fill up vacant teaching posts

The UGC has taken a serious note of the issue and instructed JNU authorities to fill up the vacant posts.


 

University Grant Commission (UGC) has directed Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to fill up the vacant post of teachers. It has also directed the premier academic institution to follow UGC norms in the recruitment process of the new appointment.
It may be mentioned here that nearly 33 per cent of teaching posts are lying vacant for a long time in JNU. The scarcity of teaching staff has badly hampered the academic environment of the institution. The UGC has taken a serious note of the issue and instructed JNU authorities to fill up the vacant posts.
Jawaharlal Nehru University, also known as JNU, is located in New Delhi. It is mainly a research oriented postgraduate University with approximately 5,500 students and faculty strength of around 550. For life and biological sciences, JNU is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.
