UGC identifies 21 fake Universities across country

These fake varsities are located in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Bihar.


University Grant Commission has identified 21 fake universities across the country. These fake varsities are located in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Bihar. These Universities have been found functioning in contravention of the provisions of the UGC Act.
It comes as surprising fact that the maximum numbers of fake universities are located in Uttar Pradesh. According to UGC, there are eight fake universities in the state. Besides this the nation capital- Delhi has six and the rest of the states have one such university.
UGC has cautioned that running of under-graduate or post-graduate courses and giving misleading advertisements shall attract severe action under the provisions of law. Commission advised students not to take admission in any of these unapproved institutions.
The fake universities identified in Delhi are Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, Jagatpuri, Delhi, Commercial University Ltd., Daryaganj, United Nations University, Vocational University, ADR-Centric Juridical University, Rajendra Place and Indian Institute of Science and Engineering.
Uttar Pradesh has eight such universities including Mahila Gram Vidyapith / Vishwavidyalaya, (Women's University) Prayag (Allahabad), Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith, Prayag (Allahabad), National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy (Kanpur), Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (Open University) (Aligarh), Uttar Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya, Kosi Kalan (Mathura), Maharana Pratap Shiksha Niketan Vishwavidyalaya (Pratapgarh), Indraprastha Shiksha Parishad, Institutional Area,Khoda,Makanpur (Noida Phase-II) and Gurukul Vishwavidyala (Vridanvan).
