Women University to be set in Bihar

The women university will be set up on the pattern of recently opened Aryabhatt University in Bihar


The Bihar government is all set to open a women university in the state. The senior officials of state human resources development department are busy preparing a blue print to set up the university, the first of its kind in Bihar.
A high level team of the department officials visited Mumbai recently to study the first women university—Shreemali Nathibar Damodar Thakeray Women University, Mumbai. The university was set up by the joint Maharashtra government about 95 years ago.
A senior official of the department said that the women university would be set up on the pattern of recently opened Aryabhatt University in Bihar, which is functioning well. “The proposed women university will bring all women colleges of the state under one roof,” he said.
The official, who did not wish to be identified, said the decision to set up an exclusive women university in the state has been taken in view of increase in literacy rate among female. “The proposal regarding women university will be present as the cabinet meeting for its approval soon,” the official pointed out.
