    Bihar govt increases retirement age of Engg teachers

    The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

    Bihar government has decided to increase the retirement age of teachers in various engineering and
    polytechnic colleges of the state from 62 years to 65 years. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
    Talking to media after meeting, the Principal Secretary, state cabinet and co-ordination department, Ravi Kant said in accordance with the provisions of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education, the state cabinet decided to increase retirement age of teachers of engineering college and polytechnic institutions.
    The cabinet has also approved Bihar Family Benefit Scheme with provision for payment of Rs 20,000 compensation to those who die in accidents and criminal incidents.
    West Bengal Government has recently decided to raise the retirement age of teachers in its medical colleges from 62 to 65 years. Besides this, Governor and chancellor of Tamil Nadu-run universities, Mr K. Rosaiah has increased the retirement age of vice-chancellors in nine universities from the present 65 to 70 years.
