    Varsity administrator now VC: Annamalai University

    Government-appointed Administrator Shiv Das Meena, a senior IAS officer, has now formally taken over as the Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University under the Annamalai University Act 2013

    Government-appointed Administrator Shiv Das Meena, a senior IAS officer, has now formally taken over the role, powers and functions as the Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University. This has been made possible by the newly passed Annamalai University Act 2013.

    The registrar in-charge N. Panchanatham will continue to execute the functions of a regular Registrar. The change in administration has been declared as a transitory provision.

    The appointments were notified by the Tamil Nadu government in the gazette stating that in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Section 3 of Section 1 of the Annamalai University Act 2013 (Tamil Nadu Act 20 of 2013) on September 25, 2013 as a date on which the said Act shall come into force.

    Mr. Meena will thus exercise the powers and discharge the functions of the Vice-Chancellor till a Vice-Chancellor is appointed under Section 9 of the new Act,. Mr. Panchanatham will also fulfil the functions of a Registrar till a Registrar is appointed under Section 11 of the new Act.

    Shiv Das Meena has already made changes in the hostel messes and other wings. The teaching and non-teaching staff has lauded the decision.
