Prof Mohan Lal Cheepa has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of Bhopal based Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University. Governor of Madhya Pradesh Ram Naresh Yadav has also issued an order naming Cheepa as the first vice chancellor of the university.
Professor Cheepa belongs to Jaipur and had earlier served as the VC and Head of the Maharishi Dayanand University, Ajmer. He will hold the VC for four years or 70 years of age, whichever is earlier.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University is founded by the state government in honour of noted Hindi poet and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A sum of Rs 2.34 crore had been sanctioned for construction of the university's building.
The university is likely to be started with three faculties and 9 educational departments. Sanction has been given to 27 teaching and 35 non-teaching posts for establishment of the university. The teaching posts include 8 professors, one director, 9 associate professors and 9 assistant professors.
