Prof Rajeev Sangal is new director of IIT-BHU

Prof Rajeev Sangal has been appointed as the new director of Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University

Prof RajeevSangal a former director-cum-vice chancellor of IIIT-Hyderabad has been appointed as the new director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Banaras Hindu University(BHU).

Prof Sangal did his BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur. He later did his masters and research in Computer and Information Sciences from University of California, USA.

His work on software developement for converting and translating languages is his forte. He has developed eight softwares for the conversion of matter from one language to other and built 18 systems of machine translation. He previously led a consortium of 12 institutions for building machine translation systems for nine Indian languages.
